Dancer  + Dancer Development  Registration & Workshops for all 2023 and future competitors: 

 

Dancer All dancers must please be registered in order to compete. All dancers rehearse entries plus participate in up to 3 x complimentary 30-45 minute workshops covering three genres/aspects of dance/performance on the day.

Dancer Development We realise many schools are developing younger teams and/or have dancers who miss out on team placement at audition time, however show huge potential. These dancers are catered for with our Dance Development Programme where they come for the days programme including joining in the workshops, have the opportunity to help competition preparation at the venue and then sit out front and support their school enjoying being inspired by all the schools performances.

Registration Fee:

Dancer  (for our competing performers): $25 per dancer

Dance Development Dancer (for non-competing dancers): $35 per dancer

 

Dance Teams:

Minimum of 4 dancers per team.

Maximum of 4 minute music duration.

Any number of entries in the appropriate categories: Yr 3-6, Yr 7/8, Yr 9/10, Yr 11-13, Open.

All genres of dance accepted with the exception of Tap due to dance floors being used!

NEW from 2021: Tahi Award - inspired by Stan Walker's story and New Zealand's strength through all things, last year we introduced the Tahi Award. Each year we will select a song by a New Zealand Artist which can be choreographed by teacher/student or a collaboration. This will be entered alongside all other entries and will eligible for all awards at Regionals. Nationally we will put all scores together and ask the top three entries to compete at Nationals for the overall award.

Entry fee: Dance Team $30 per entry

 

Solos:

Maximum of 2 minute music duration.

Your solo must be a complete piece- Our solo entries no longer need to be unique to the Interschool- ie they can have been performed in another competition or they can have been part of a school showcase / assessment. However please be advised that a 'complete dance journey or experience' should be what you present. A 'shortened' competition circuit dance is not advised for this competition. 

1 solo per student – all danced in Year groups (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).

Judged on technique, commitment, emotion, physical execution, choreography and more.

All genres of dance accepted with the exception of Tap due to dance floors being used!

Presentations will be made in each Year group (2nd runner up, 1st runner up and Champion) with the three overall top scoring entries representing their Region at Nationals with the opportunity of winning the fabulous trip to LA thanks to

SHE SHINES ON Dance Tours.

 

Entry fee: Solo $30 per entry

 

Duo and Trio:

Maximum of 2 minute music duration.

Any number of entries by two or three students - all danced in Year groups (3-6, 7/8, 9/10, 11-13).

A student may dance in more than one entry as long as the partners are different. The same two (duo) or three (trio) dancers may not perform more than one entry.

All genres of dance accepted with the exception of Tap due to dance floors being used!

Now at Regional and/or National Level- dancers can choose to compete Regionally and/or Nationally- simply register for one or both.

Presentations will be made in each Year group (2nd runner up, 1st runner up and Champion) plus top scoring overall champion.

 

Entry fee: Solo $30 per entry

 

 

 

Nationals:

We know you’ll be inspired after Regionals

 and want to up your game!

You may change any aspect of your entry by 20% - bring it on!

Please remember to follow time limits strictly at Nationals: Teams 4min max. / Solos 2min max.

Confirmations must be sent otherwise we won’t know you are coming! 

 Don't forget our Wake Up and Dance Workshops open to all competitors Sunday morning!

Solo- No charge

Duos & Trios- $30

Teams - $50

Competitor Ticket / Seat / Perform pass- $5

Ensure your music and dance content is suitable for GA audiences, and age appropriate for dancers performing the entry- DanceNZmade reserves the right to remove unsuitable entries from the programme- unsure, check with us.

Be inspired by all you see and do but ensure your work is your own, like it or love it but please don’t copy it- DanceNZmade reserves the right to remove ‘copied’ entries from the programme- unsure, check with us.

This competition is for school based choreography only- choreography created for school based groups by amateurs or professionals.


For Your Fan Base:

Audience Tickets are sold through normal venue outlets - we will advise each region’s schools when they are available. Please note that ticket prices vary around the country as they are dependent on venue cost

 

Complimentary Tickets:

At competition/show time we encourage teaching staff to be back stage and all other supporters out front to give our dancers an audience. For this reason we do not provide complimentary tickets. Please support our event by purchasing your tickets early to avoid queues, missing the beginning of the show and risk of a full house with no door sales available.
